Our vision is that in East Lothian the role and contribution young carers make to society is recognised and they receive the support and information they need to allow them to reach their potential and make a positive transition to adulthood regardless of their caring role.
To provide services that respond to the needs of young carers and their families.
To minimise the emotional and physical impact of caring to allow young carers to reach their potential.
East Lothian Young Carers is an independent charity established in 2003 to provide a service to young carers aged 5 to 24 years old and their families in East Lothian. We believe that young carers are children first and foremost and should be offered support to allow them to enjoy their childhood alongside their caring role. If you are a young carer you are not alone. There are lots of young carers living in East Lothian, we think at least 2,200 and probably many more.
East Lothian Young Carers offers services, support and information to young carers and their families. We can help you to meet up with other young carers, have fun and a break from your caring responsibilities. Caring affects people in different ways at different times, our support is not time limited, we will support you for as long as you need us.

Long Term Care
ELYC is funded by East Lothian Council, MELDAP and Lothian Health. As with many other charities we find the demand on our service always means we are looking for more ways to raise funds.
