How does East Lothian Young Carers support young carers and their families?

Caring can affect your health, your opportunities to make friends and to be able to spend time with them, your education and your future opportunities.  We are here to support you and provide you with a range of different supports that are best for you as an individual.  Some of the ways we can support you are:-



  • one to one support
  • support with school, college or employment
  • ​young carers assessment
  • young carers clubs
  • opportunities to meet other young carers your own age
  • fun activities
  • talking to others on your behalf
  • advice
  • information on the person your care for's illness or disability
  • ​help with emergency planning
  • help with financial matters
  • help with housing
  • family support



Where ever you live in East Lothian you can attend our services.  We provide transport to and from all our activities and all our activities are free.  Our support is not time limited we will support you for as long as you need us.


Anyone can make a referral to us.  When we receive a referral  we will  arrange to meet up with you to have a chat.  This usually takes place at home but can take place in school, in our club room or anywhere you feel comfortable.
